Jacqueline was a properly ardent Mimi. Quirk had the high notes for spectacular arias like “Mi chiamano Mimi” (They call me Mimi), and was at her expressive best in the Act 3 scene “Donde Lieta”, in which the consumptive heroine tells Rodolfo he can keep a pink bonnet in memory of her.

Madame Butterfly – Mansfield Symphony Orchestra

Soprano Jacqueline Quirk (Madame Butterfly) deftly negotiated the soaring romantic melodies her character necessitated. She melted the audience’s hearts in Act 2 with the signature aria, “Un bel di” (one fine day). The voices of the two characters balanced well in the celebrated love duet which concludes Act 1 of the opera, “Viene la sera.”  Overall, it was a superb evening of music making.
The audience gave the performers a well-deserved standing ovation during the curtain call.

Madama Butterfly – Asheville Lyric Opera

Building on the resounding voice of its principal lead, Asheville Lyric Opera delivered a stellar performance of “Madame Butterfly” March 31 before a Craven County audience.
As expected, soprano Jacqueline Quirk as Cio-Cio San was the Jewel in the troupe’s operatic crown during a single public performance at the Grover C. Fields Performing Arts Center in New Bern. Adequate to the role, Quirk provided strong voice co-mingled with tacit emotion expressed in both song and acting. Quirk brought experience to the stage and provided a positive operatic experience.
