Russian born basso Mikhail Guzhov has been singing major roles for the past 20 years in many important theaters in Russia and Europe. Since 2000 he is a jury member of the Moscow open Festival of Young Vocalists.

 

Mikhail Guzhov continues as a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater which he has been for the past 20 years and at the same time he is a soloist of Helicon opera Moscow. 

 

He has given performances in various countries (Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Korea etc.) as an opera and a chamber singer.  He sang Pharaoh in "Aida" Verdi with a star cast under baton of Tiziano Severini in Strasbourg, Gremin in "Eugene Onegin" Tchaikovsky at the opera Salzburg (Austria), Spain (Santander) and France (Paris).

In 2005 he participated in the concert version of Verdi’s opera "Nabucco" with Ferruccio Furlanetto and Silvia Valer on the stage of Moscow international House of music (Director - D. Lipton, Canada).

He often performs oratorio works in Russia and abroad ("The 9th symphony" Beethoven, "Stabat Mater" and Dvorak's "Requiem", "Mass No. 1" Bruckner, "A little solemn mass" Rossini, Handel's "Messiah", etc.)

The solo concerts of chamber and vocal repertoire take a special place in Guzhov’s performing activity; he performed the music of Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff. Already as a student he made his debut in Bolshoi Theatre (1996) and for the past 20 years he is performing often in other famous halls of Moscow and Russia.

In the past 8 years Mikhail performed concerts at the Berlin philharmonic hall (Germany) singing musical selections from operas: Verdi (Zaccaria) Nabucco, Mussorgsky (Boris Godunov) Boris Godunov with the Russian national orchestra under the baton of Maxim Fedotov.
 

Mikhail has several awards in Russia including the Fedor Chaliapin prize; he was an award winner of the Fund of Irina Arkhipova, Award winner of the National Treasure (Gold medal), Honoured artist of Russia (2016); he is holding an award for a contribution to cultural development of Russia (2018).
