Russian born American dramatic mezzo Natasha Novitskaia is starring in Beethoven 9th Symphony twice in 2020: in David Geffen Hall  at Lincoln Center in New York City in May and at the Cesky Krumlov international music festival in the Czech republic in August.

In February 2020 Natasha  was presenting duets and arias from Aida (“Fu la sorte dell'armi…”, "L'aborrita rivale a me sfuggia", ) the duet with tenor from the 2 act Samson et Dalila, aria  "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix , Gioconda duet, Cavalleria Rusticana  and Carmen arias in a concert “Opera Gems” in Merkin Hall; this concert was presented by Concert Agency Grandi Voci, Maestro Jason Tramm, his Orchestra MidAtlantic Symphony Orchestra and Matthew Laifer Artists Management.  This concert was presented after the concert “In Memory of Francisco” in NYC where Natasha was one of the leading singers.  Natasha Novitskaia was performing 2018/19 several concerts with famous tenor Francisco Casanova, with whom she sang also a concert Viva Verdi in 2019. 

 In April 2020 Natasha is performing Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) with New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera in big gala concert with orchestra and chorus.Natasha Novitskaia was very successful in August 2018 at the Mythos Festival in Taormina singing Amneris in Teatro Greco after being chosen as a winner of their competition in Rome, Italy. In addition to performing her Amneris at the opening night performance of Aida at the summer’s Mythos Festival in Taormina in 2018, she sang arias in the festival’s Mascagni Gala with conductor Alberto Veronese (Artistic Director at Torre del Lago, Italia,) and she was featured in the Closing Night Gala of the Festival which was conducted by Everett McCorvey Artistic and Music director of the National Chorale at Lincoln Center, NYC

 

In April 2019 she was awarded with the Second Prize at the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition in New York City after her return performance to Carnegie Zankel Hall in Gala concert singing Carmen. 

 In March 2019, she sang in the gala-concert “Viva Verdi!” at the National Opera Center in NYC. “Ms. Novitskaia uses the texture of her powerful mezzo instrument to create an aura of suspense and we loved the final “silencio”…and in the lower register she has a certain contralto-like quality. She was a Commanding and devious Amneris in her duet with Amneris!” (Voce di Meche).

 

At  her appearance  to Carnegie Zankel Hall in April 2017 Natasha was a featured guest artist in an opera gala honoring the great Italian tenor Giuseppe Giacomini. The performance was conducted by conductor Eve Queler with orchestra of the Liederkrantz Foundation.

Having begun her career as a spinto soprano, her voice transitioned to dramatic mezzo-soprano, and she is now a true Verdian mezzo, also excelling in repertoire such as Santuzza, Dalila, Princess de Bouillon and in many of the important Russian mezzo roles as well as the works of Wagner (Erda, Fricka, and Waltraude). 

 

Her early music education was in classical piano and singing, and she received her Master’s Degree from St. Petersburg University in Russian Literature and Language. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Marylhurst University. Her first teacher in the United States was Ellen Faull, former Professor of Voice at the Juilliard School. Subsequently, she has worked with Martina Arroyo, Grace Bumbry, Sherrill Milnes, and Marcello Giordani and is working currently with William Schuman, Giovanni Reggioli (Washington Opera) Jonathan Kelly (Metropolitan Opera), Anthony Manoli, Gregory Buchalter (Metropolitan opera).

 

In the fall of 2017 she was a finalist in the Altamura Caruso International Voice Competition in NYC.

 

Natasha has performed Fricka and Carmen with New York Opera Forum and Azucena with One World Symphony in New York City and at St. Thomas Acquinas in Brooklyn. In 2015 she sang the Principessa (Suor Angelica) in the Tuscia Opera Festival in Cordona, Italy. In 2016 Natasha received a standing ovation for her Azucena in a concert performance of Il Trovatore at the Liederkranz Foundation. This performance followed her appearance with the Mercury Orchestra as soloist in Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky for mezzo, chorus, and orchestra. In March 2017 she performed at Opera America’s Scorca Hall with soprano Olga Zhuravel Maselli in a concert entitled “Romance and Beauty of the Spring”. In Winter 2018 she sang at the Holiday Transformation opera concert produced International Art Organization in New York City.

 

Additionally to an opera career, Ms.Novitskaia sang numerous concerts and recitals. Natasha has performed at Carnegie Hall, American National Opera Center, Liederkranz Foundation, and Merkin Concert Hall.

 

In 2015 she made her European solo recital debut singing Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Sviridov with pianist and conductor Sergey Neller, and in 2016 she sang a solo recital at the Russian Embassy in Berlin, performing arias from Samson et Dalila, Carmen, Rachmaninoff’s Kaschchei the Immortal and additional songs by Rachmaninoff.  In the Spring 2019 she performed Rachmaninoff songs with Lyrica classic entertainment Opera America.
